Ankabut Users’ Meeting to Be Held at Paris Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, February, 2013

Ankabut, the UAE Advanced Network for Research and Education, announced the 8th Ankabut Users’ Meeting February 20th – 21st will be held at Paris Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi. The event is under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The theme for the Users’ Meeting is “Discover Ankabut” and His Highness Sheikh Nahyan will give the opening address on the morning of the 20th of February. Following the address a ceremonial signing will take place to introduce eFADA the library consortium under the auspices of Ankabut. eFADA will seek to share resources, purchase electronic resources collectively, and establish a repository for archiving and disseminating the nation’s intellectual content.  This addition to Ankabut services supports the national goal of growing the knowledge economy.

The keynote address will be given by Patrick Donath the General Manager of RENATER (The National Research and Education Network for France) and Dr. Tod Laursen President of Khalifa University will moderate a University Leadership Council panel discussion.

In the afternoon presenters from UAE universities will present at breakout sessions with a reception immediately following the first day activities. The morning of the 21st will begin with Dr. Thomas Zacharia Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Qatar Foundation followed by The Ankabut Roundtable Sessions.

The two day event which anticipates over 400 attendees from universities and schools throughout the United Arab Emirates has speakers from:
